great piece. i think there is a solution in the dao design space for "connection" that isn't only financial value driven. it does get super tricky and contradictory to introduce tokens in there, as you aptly put due to their "moneyness". and i do think it depends on a new model of token (non)-economic design that we haven't seen yet. i'm just repeating what you're saying :) thanks for sparking interesting ideas.

Richard, I really love this piece. Great job. Glad someone was able to put into writing a lot of the things I have been feeling. I wrote a few pieces recently that deal with this same kind of conceptual shift. I think that crypto can be a reasoned solution to modern despair, by revealing new economic systems, but right now it seems more like only an exacerbation of it.

Wow. I think this is your best written piece yet. Or at least it hits me right in the feels the hardest.

The p2w2w notion resonated. Tokens economic value unlock isn’t limited to the 2-dimensional (between players) but could have extra-player consequences. Hmm.. will need more reflection time on this point.

Thanks for the reminder in your final point of “the self<>the collective” passion+energy combustion — that’s why we went down the rabbit hole in the first place.
